Kumasi Asante Kotoko have backtracked on their earlier stances of writing to the government to have at least 20,000 spectators at the stadium when they face Mauritanian side Noaudhibou FC on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The porcupine warriors will play against the Mauritanian champions in the second leg of their preliminary round clash in the CAF Champions League.

Kotoko had earlier intimated that they wanted government to grant them permission to have spectators at the stadium but according to the club's head of communications, Moses Antwi Benefo, that decision has been swayed after talks with the government's COVID-19 task force.

Speaking in an interview with Kumasi based ASHH FM on Tuesday, he indicated that the Mauritanians will arrive in Ghana latest by Thursday.

"We will train this afternoon and tomorrow and we will travel and to Accra on Thursday

We are Expecting Noaudhibou Fc latest by Thursday"

"Concerning supporters coming to the stadium, we have talked to the COVID- 19 team of the country and they have convinced us they need to protect the citizens of the country so we have withdrawn from that statement"

For now, our concentration is on our champions league return match against Nouadhibou after the match we will look into other matters like the replica jerseys of Asante Kotoko"

"The player are now thinking about their market value more than winning bonus so they are playing their heart out" he added.
