Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has urged patience despite his side’s emphatic 6–0 victory over Bechem United in Week 16 of the Ghana Premier League, stressing that the Porcupine Warriors are still in the process of building a complete team.

Kotoko’s Recent Form

  • Week 13 setback: Lost 1–0 to Hohoe United.

  • Recovery: Back-to-back wins against Dreams FC and Eleven Wonders.

  • Statement victory: Crushed Bechem United 6–0 at Baba Yara Stadium, their biggest win in years.

Zito’s Reflections

On gradual improvement:

“I am very happy that we are coming back gradually because we had about three or four matches which didn’t go well. Even the last game we played against Eleven Wonders in Accra, I won alright, but I wasn’t happy with the play.”

On building a complete side:

“We are still building, we are not there yet, and you people have to be very patient with us because building a team sometimes takes a season, depending on what you want and how you want it.”

League Standings

  • Kotoko: Top of the table with 30 points, level with Medeama but ahead on goal difference (+14 vs +11).

  • Bechem United: Struggling in 17th place with 16 points from 16 games, just one point above the relegation zone.

Karim Zito’s words reflect a balance between celebration and caution: while Kotoko’s firepower has lifted them to the summit, the coach insists the team is still evolving and has not yet reached its full potential.
