Prince Yaw Owusu, head coach of Asante Kotoko SC, has been fined GHS 10,000 and formally warned by the Ghana Football Association Disciplinary Committee following his side’s Ghana Premier League match against Bibiani Goldstars FC.
The committee found Owusu guilty of unsporting behaviour towards match officials after he confronted them in what was described as an aggressive and improper manner during the game.
In its ruling, the GFA ordered the coach to pay the fine within 14 days of being notified of the decision, while also issuing a formal warning regarding his future conduct.
The sanction comes amid heightened scrutiny of behaviour on the touchline in Ghana’s top flight, with football authorities keen to reinforce standards of professionalism and respect for match officials.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the charge against Karim Zito has been withdrawn after further review of the available evidence. He has been formally informed of the decision.
For Kotoko, the focus now shifts back to on-field matters as they continue their league campaign, while their coach will hope the disciplinary episode serves as a line under an otherwise competitive season.
