Asante Kotoko continued their impressive form with a gritty 1-0 triumph over reigning champions FC Samartex at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.

Albert Amoah broke the deadlock in the 31st minute, converting a well-timed out-swinging cross from Patrick Asiedu to give Kotoko the lead.

Despite the slim scoreline, the Porcupine Warriors controlled much of the game, enjoying 53% possession and creating 17 goal attempts compared to Samartex’s five.

Kotoko registered four shots on target, while their defense remained solid, limiting Samartex to only two shots on goal.

This victory marks Kotoko's third consecutive win and strengthens their early-season momentum.

With the three points, they move up to second place in the league, trailing Bibiani Goldstars by just one point, with a game in hand.

Kotoko will now focus on their upcoming fixture against Legon Cities in Accra, as they aim to extend their unbeaten run.

Meanwhile, Samartex will look to regroup ahead of their next encounter with Berekum Chelsea.
