Former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak midfielder Charles Taylor says that Asante Kotoko will defeat Hearts of Oak in their crunch match day 7 fixture .

The two leading clubs in the country will square it off in a re-arranged fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Most often than not people claim that matches involving Kotoko and Hearts do not follow form guide but Taylor believes that is not always the case and that in form Asante Kotoko will carry the day.

The reds have been in fine form this season as they lead the Ghana Premier League table whiles Hearts lie 8th with some 12 points gap.

"You need courage and boldness to excel in Kotoko versus Hearts games,” he told Akoma FM.

“Even though many people say that such games are won or lost devoid of form, I think form plays a role at times.

“On the basis of form, you can say Kotoko will win. The two Cameroonians will be crucial for Kotoko. They make half chances count.

"Hearts will come with aggression but I believe if any of the sides will win, it will be Asante Kotoko,” he added.

Taylor joined Accra Hearts of Oak in 2000 where he helped them win the Ghana premier league in 2000, 2001 and 2002 seasons.

Then coached by the late Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio and late Ofei Ansah, Taylor formed a fantastic partnership with Ishmael Addo and Emmanuel Osei Kuffour affectionately called the deadly trio.

In addition to the national premier league in 2000, Hearts of oak won the FA cup and the African champions league for the first time and the Super Cup where he scored the first goal against Zamalek.

Charles Taylor alongside Charles Allotey, Amankwah Mireku, Joseph Ansah, Jacob Nettey, Stephen Tetteh, Ishmael Addo, Emmanuel Osei Kuffour, Sammy Adjei, Edmund Copson, and Emmanuel Adjogu were deemed as the best squad ever to be assembled by Accra Hearts of oak and also famously called "64 Battalion" a name after the most feared unit of the Ghana Army.

He later joined Asante Kotoko before going to Tunisia to play for Esperance.
