Kumasi Asante Kotoko will send defender Ismail Abdul Ganiyu to Germany for treatment, communication director has said.

According to Kennedy Boakye Ansah, the team is waiting for the final medical report to decide on the next line of action, which could make Abdul Ganiyu  the second after midfielder Richard Senanu to go for a German treatment.

The porcupine warriors are racing against time to get the defender fit for their CAF Champions league tasks and have made provisions to transfer him to Europe for further treatment.

"Abdul Ganiyu is still part of our African squad and we are all hoping and praying he can recover on time to help the team in our African campaign," he told Ash FM.

"Our medical team have accessed his situation and we are waiting for their final report.

"But if there is the need to take him to Germany for surgery, everything will be in order."

Karela FC defender Abdul Ganiyu completes Asante Kotoko switch

The 22-year-old suffered a knee injury during the club's training session at the Adako Jachie training complex.

He joins Richard Senanu and Maxwell Baakoh in the treatment room of the Kumasi-based club.

Abdul Ganiyu joined Kotoko last season and featured in all matches in their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

He will miss their first CAF Champions League  match against  Nigerian side Kano Pillars on August 10th.

But Boakye Ansah believes Kotoko still have the men to face Kano Pillars in their first Champions League campaign in four years.

"Preparations are far advance ahead of our Champions league game against Kano Pillars," he said.
"Blending of the old and new players has been good so far and I know with time the team will get to where every supporter is expecting.
"We have had a lot of information about Kano Pillars and I believe our technical handlers will work on the team to win the game in Nigeria, " he added.
