Eight students of the Kumasi Technical University [formerly K-Poly] have been sacked for gaining admission into the institution with forged results from the West African Examination Council [WASSCE].

The students were in the second and third years of their various programmes of study including HND Statistics, Purchasing and Supply, HND Estate Management, HND Management and HND Building Technology.

The Vice-Chancellor of the Kumasi Technical University, Professor Nsowah Nuah announced this at the maiden matriculation since it was upgraded into a university status.

Information gathered by TV3 from the university indicated that some of the students presented certificates from the West African Examinations Council [WAEC] with index numbers that were later found to contain different names.

Some also falsified grades far different from what they obtained at the WASSCE.

For instance, one of the students had E8 and F9 in English Language and Core Mathematics respectively in the WASSCE but falsified them to read C4 in both subjects.

Meanwhile, Professor Nsowah Nuamah has announced that six other students of the university who were caught indulging in examination malpractices during the second semester examination of the 2015/2016 academic year have also been dismissed.

He said cautioned students against examination malpractices, noting that the dismissal should serve as a warning to all students of the university not to engage in any form of examination malpractices.

He charged the students to take their studies very serious and not to indulge in unproductive activities on campus.

He said the university frowned on behavior such as use of abusive language, alcoholism, unbridled sexual lives, offensive dressing and stealing.

In all, the university was able to admit a total of 5,491 students to pursue various programmes at the university
