Renowned Ghanaian highlife artiste George Kwabena Adu, popularly known as Kwabena Kwabena, has shared a personal experience of feeling disrespected by a gospel musician during an attempt to explore gospel music.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with Doreen Avio, the award-winning singer revealed that a gospel artiste once dismissed his interest in creating a gospel EP, making him feel like an outsider unworthy of venturing into the genre.
"There was one particular gospel artist for obvious reasons, I won't mention the name, but I believe it was a bit disrespectful. She made me feel like a worldly person. I called her personally and she told me to speak with her husband", he said.
Despite the initial discouragement, the highlife musician went on to collaborate with celebrated gospel singer Obaapa Christy on his seventh album, God of Restoration EP.
Expressing his gratitude, he praised Obaapa Christy for embracing the opportunity with warmth and humility.
"I would like to appreciate Obaapa Christy. When I phoned her to talk about doing a song, she made me feel she was rather honored to do a song with me. "It was so humbling, and I say thank you and may God bless her very much. I now understand why she is quite unique," he added.
God of Restoration is a five-track EP, with its lead single, Fakyɛme, featuring Obaapa Christy.
