The traditional leadership at Kwadaso has destooled the community’s Odikro, Nana Asare Bediako II, over allegations of misconduct and abuse of authority.
The decision was taken by the Bantama Traditional Council, led by Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, who ordered his removal from office.
A traditional ceremony was held at the Kwadaso Palace on Monday, April 13, 2026, to formalise the destoolment. During the event, Nana Kofi Owusu, Gyasehene to the Bantamahene, led the process on behalf of the council. In line with customary rites, a ram was slaughtered to symbolise the stripping of his authority.
Speaking after the ceremony, Nana Akwasi Abu, the Aduana Abusuapanin of the Royal Family, outlined a series of allegations against the destooled chief. These included failure to perform his duties and engaging in unauthorised land sales, particularly in areas around Sofoline.
He further stated that the actions of Nana Asare Bediako II undermined the authority of the traditional council and showed disregard for the leadership of the Bantamahene.
“Although 27 years have passed since his enstoolment, he has failed to meet his obligations to the Royal Family and has ignored multiple summons to respond to the allegations,” Nana Akwasi Abu said.
Despite the development, sections of the royal family have responded calmly, expressing respect for the traditional processes and authority of the council.
The decision has since sparked discussions among residents of Kwadaso, particularly on its implications for local governance and land administration.
