Former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reached out to popular content creator, Kwadwo Sheldon, after recent floods affected his home.

The Vice President, currently in London contacted Sheldon directly to check on his well-being following a video update from the YouTuber revealing the extent of the flood damage.

In a viral video, Sheldon shared that his residence was severely affected by the recent downpour which drew widespread concern from fans and followers across platforms.

To the surprise of many, Dr. Bawumia himself reached out to express support and offer encouragement.

Social media users have since been applauding Dr. Bawumia for taking time to check on one of Ghana’s most influential voices.

The flooding was the result of nearly three hours of continuous rainfall starting around 3:00 p.m on May 18 which submerged major roads and cut off access to several communities.

Other affected areas across the capital included Weija, Kaneshie, Adabraka, Adenta-Dodowa, Tema, and several adjoining towns.

The downpour caused key stormwater channels, including the Odaw drain, to overflow, compounding the damage and stranding vehicles and residents alike.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Adentan Municipal Assembly, Ella Esiman Nongo, confirmed that three people died following the heavy downpour.

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) also revealed that approximately 3,000 residents in the Odawna area of Accra were affected by the floods.

In response, NADMO swiftly deployed emergency teams to provide relief and assess the situation.
