Newly promoted English Premier League side Sunderland AFC are reportedly keen on signing Kwame Poku, the talented London-born Ghanaian winger, ahead of the 2025/26 season.

According to Sunderland Echo, the Black Cats have joined a growing list of suitors chasing the signature of the 23-year-old Peterborough United attacker, who enjoyed a stellar 2024/25 campaign.

With 12 goals and 11 assists in 31 appearances across all competitions, Poku has established himself as one of the most productive wide men in the English lower leagues.

Championship outfits Birmingham City and Sheffield United have also expressed interest, but Sunderland’s status as a Premier League club could give them the edge—should they be willing to meet Peterborough’s €1.5 million valuation, as reflected on Transfermarkt.

Poku, who switched allegiance to represent Ghana in 2021, has earned one cap for the Black Stars, and his return to top-flight football would further boost his chances of breaking more permanently into Otto Addo’s plans—especially with the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in focus.

With his contract set to expire this June, the summer transfer window presents a pivotal moment in his career.

Sunderland are aiming to bolster their squad depth to stay competitive in the top tier, and Poku's creativity and attacking flair could prove invaluable in their Premier League campaign.
