Ghana international Kwasi Sibo has pledged to fight for more playing time at Real Oviedo, following a mixed start to the 2025/26 La Liga campaign.
The 27-year-old midfielder has featured in six of 11 matches so far, and is yet to register a goal or an assist — a contrast to his key role in Real Oviedo’s historic promotion last season.
“I’m focusing on working hard to be in the team every weekend,” the former Cheetah and Watford FC midfielder told Graphic Sports.
Sibo’s stock rose sharply after he was called up to replace Elisha Owusu during Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, delivering a composed debut against Mali in a 1–0 win at the Accra Sports Stadium.
His performance earned praise from head coach Otto Addo, and he has since started all three final qualifiers, helping Ghana top Group I with 25 points to seal their fifth World Cup appearance.
Sibo believes the togetherness within the Black Stars squad will be crucial heading into the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by Canada, USA, and Mexico.
“When a team is united and ready to fight for each other, it’s hard to beat… I feel we are on the right track.”
