Former Ghana international Charles Taylor has expressed his belief that Kwesi Appiah is a more capable coach than Otto Addo, following the Black Stars' disappointing 0-0 draw against Sudan in their latest Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

As the two teams gear up for their second encounter in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, Taylor critiqued Addo's tactical approach, stating that it fell short compared to Appiah’s experience and previous success with the national team.

Taylor highlighted Sudan's effective game plan, which allowed them to secure a draw despite Ghana's persistent attacking efforts.

"Sudan came for a draw, and that is when our coaches should have demonstrated their tactical awareness because we [Ghana] wanted victory," he remarked during an interview with Angel Sports.

He elaborated on his assessment of the coaching staff, suggesting that the Sudanese team exhibited superior tactics.

"Otto Addo is not a listening coach. If you compare our technical team to that of Sudan, Kwesi Appiah as Head Coach is better than Otto Addo.

Ignatius [Assistant Coach] outshines John Paintsil, and Eric Amponsah is a better goalkeepers' trainer than Fatau Dauda.

Their tactics were simply better than ours," Taylor stated.

Taylor also pointed out that Addo tends to disregard advice, saying, "Otto does what he will, so what can I tell him? What I will say is that the boys should do their best."

Currently, the Black Stars sit third in their group with two draws and one loss, and they must secure a victory in their upcoming matches to surpass Sudan and maintain their hopes of qualifying for the AFCON in Morocco.
