Senior journalist and arch NPP critic, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. and many activists of the opposition NDC have jumped to the defence of Kennedy Agyepong over the NPP flagbearership hopeful's outbursts against President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Kennedy Agyepong was on Saturday captured on camera ranting against President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia amidst swear words, threatening the duo of a showdown and sending the NPP to opposition - over claims his agent was manhandled at the NPP Super Delegates.

Following the incident, the Disciplinary Commiitee of the NPP has since invited the MP.

While a number of NPP faithful have expressed disappointment and condemned Kennedy Agyepong's effusions and open show of disrespect to both President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia, the MP has surprisingly found allies in sympathisers of the NDC.

Kwesi Pratt Jnr, renowned as a fierce critic of the NPP, launched a spirited defence of Kennedy Agyapong for his outbursts on Peace FM's morning show, Kokrokoo.

Pratt explained there was nothing with what Kennedy Agyepong said, because 'showdown' meant giving the President a contest.

"I don't see anything wrong with that," said Pratt.

"What is the meaning of showdown? Did he say he will slap somebody? Showdown means competition. Showdown is not war. All I'm saying is that showdown means competition so people are getting him wrong. He said showdown. I see it as competition.

With President Akufo-Addo not part of the primaries and not in any contest with Kennedy Agyepong, a listener challenged Kwesi Pratt's interpretation and support of Kennedy's outburt, which has been widely described as strange.

Interestingly, a number of NDC activists on social media have been defending Kennedy Agyepong too.

The timelines of many NDC commentators and activists were filled with posts, defending Kennedy Agyepong's outbursts and, curiously, making a case why he should be the flagbearer for the NPP.

On twitter, a hastag #Showdown, was created, and most of the accounts pushing the hashtag and offering support to Kennedy Agyapong were known accounts sympathetic to the NDC.
