Former Liberty Professionals forward Latif Blessing has received his first call-up to the Niger national football team after completing a switch in international allegiance.
The 29-year-old, who currently plays for Lexington SC, has been named in Niger’s squad for upcoming fixtures against Libya national football team and Togo national football team during the international break.
Blessing, once a standout performer in the Ghana Premier League, was named Player of the Season in the 2015/16 campaign and later earned a place in the provisional squad of the Ghana national football team ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
However, having not featured at senior international level for Ghana, he has now opted to represent Niger, marking a new chapter in his career on the international stage.
The midfielder’s inclusion is expected to add experience and attacking energy to Niger’s squad as they prepare for their upcoming matches.
His decision highlights the growing trend of players switching national allegiance in pursuit of international opportunities, as he looks to make an impact with his new national team.
