Ghana’s best and most popular Kick Boxer, Lawrence Nyanyo Nmai who won his biggest fight when he defeated German Daniel Dorrer for the World Martial Arts Committee WMAC World Title, K1 86kg division at the Battle of Martial Arts Masters in far way Germany on Saturday, December 3, 2016 has decided to defend the title in Ghana.

He told yours truly in an exclusive telephone interview from his Switzerland base that the fight was a good one though he was not fully fit and did not want to waist the opportunity, so he had to fight with his legs and won.

“I could have knocked out that idiot before the last round if I was punching. He was lucky I could not punch, but I will be better in the return fight which will come off at the Trust Sports Emporium or Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra next year.

He noted that 2017 is going to be a blast year for Kick Boxing and want the private sector to take advantage of the sport to promote their products and activities.

Nmai who said he was injured before the fight due to a fracture in in knuckles, so could not punch used his legs often in the fight which lasted for 12 rounds. He demonstrated that he is really good and committed to sports as a Kick Boxer and an Ambassador of Sports who will never let the nation and the sport down.

Nmai who hails from La in Accra East was voted SWAG Kick Boxer of the Year in 2012 after winning bronze at the World Championship in Scotlant. He has been competing and coaching in Africa, Europe and Asia.

He said he used the contest as another opportunity to showcase Ghana as a sports nation and will be very glad to be recognized by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) again in 2016, because this is a bigger achievement.

He dedicated the title to President John Mahama and expressed that Ghana can make it in Martial Arts if the players are supported by the government and the private companies.

The Battle of Martial Arts Masters was held at Turnhalle, Adalbert-Stifter-Platz 1, 82166 Grafeling. Some of the features and forms of the competition were Self Defence, Point Fight, Light Contact, Low Kick, Kick Light, Full Contact, Thai Boxing and Grappling.

He commended Emmanuel Commey for winning the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Lightweight Title.
