Legon Cities finally got their first three points of the season on Friday night when they defeated WAFA by a lone goal to nil in the Ghana Premier League clash.

It has been a long frustrating run of losses and draws for the highly ambitious club as they finally won their first game in the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season.

Even after the sacking of Bosnian Goran Barajkteravic and the hiring of experienced Bashir Hayford, results were hard to come by for the side.

Scoring from open play was even very difficult for Legon Cities but it was a composed display from the capital based club.

The first half of the game ended goalless as each side could not break the deadlock before half time.

It did not take long before the home side broke the deadlock minutes after recess when teenage winger Mathew Anim Cudjoe was upended in the penalty box.

The referee awarded a penalty kick which was expertly converted by Joseph Adjei to give Legon Cities the lead.

WAFA pressed on to try and find the elusive equalizer but it never arrived as the home side stood firm from the barrage of attacks from the Academy side.

Despite the win, the ambitious Ghana Premier League side are still stuck in the relegation zone a point to safety.
