Three Liverpool players headline the list of nominees for the Fifa World best awards announced by Football world governing body.

Mohammed Salah, Sadio Mane and defender Virgil Van Dijk have all been rewarded for their performances en route to the reds winning the Uefa Champions league trophy.

The trio were instrumental in the red's quest for a sixth continental crown with the goals of Salah, Mane powering the team past opponents while the impregnable Van Dijk as ever was solid as a rock at the back.

They are joined on the list by the two five time world player award winners Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo despite by their own lofty standards having an underwhelming season where Messi only won the La liga trophy but was dumped out of the Champions league while losing the Copa del rey finals.

With Ronaldo he could only win the Serie A with a paltry 28 goals across all competitions paling in comparison to years he has won this award.

Ajax's Frenkie De Jong deservedly got a nomination for his contribution to his team's giant killing exploits with his former team mate Mathis de Ligt featuring prominently on the list of nominees.

Eden Hazard curiously made the list of nominees with Tottenham's Harry Kane also featuring despite injuring plaguing the most part of his season.

PSG's wonder-kid Kylian Mbappe unsurprisingly got a nomination for his 39 goal contribution to le Parisian's season.

The list of nominess is based on their respective achievements during the period from 16 July 2018 to 19 July 2019 inclusive - has been compiled by a panel of experts in men’s football.

Fans, now have a say and can vote for your personal top three (First choice: 5 points, second choice: 3 points and third choice: 1 point). The fan vote will be equally weighted alongside the votes of other key members of the footballing community - namely journalists, national team coaches and captains. The three finalists for each award will be revealed at a later date, with all award winners revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards show in Milan on 23 September, 2019.
