President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is set to deliver his final State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament before leaving office.
As mandated by Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, the State of the Nation Address offers the outgoing President the opportunity to provide an in-depth report on the state of the country.
This event also marks the final session of the 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic, which will be dissolved on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Government officials, including Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Second Lady Samira Bawumia, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, Members of Parliament, and other prominent dignitaries, are already seated in Parliament awaiting the President’s address.
Other dignitaries in attendance include Chief of Defence Staff Major General Oppong-Peprah, Inspector General of Police George Akuffo Dampare, and British High Commissioner Harriet Thompson, among others.
