Former Hiplife star turned preacher, Evangelist Abraham Philip Akpor Kojo, popularly known as Lord Kenya, has cautioned the public to be discerning about the company they keep, warning that some friendships can lead to ruin rather than progress.
Preaching at his Face of Grace Covenant Temple, the evangelist opened up about how peer influence lured him into alcohol and drug abuse during his days in the music industry.
“At first, I was taught how to drink with the idea that even if one got drunk, they would quickly become sober again,” he recalled. “Then I went to stay with a friend who had marijuana at home and encouraged me to smoke as much as I could.”
Lord Kenya, who has long spoken openly about his past struggles with addiction, urged people to avoid friends who introduce them to destructive habits or take delight in their failures.
“Some friends come into your life to disgrace you. They’ll lead you into vices, and when you fall, they’ll mock you,” he cautioned.
Once hailed as one of Ghana’s most dynamic and influential Hiplife performers, Lord Kenya has since renounced secular music to focus on Christian ministry. Through his transformation, he now uses his personal story to inspire others to embrace sobriety, moral discipline, and faith-based living.
He continues to encourage the youth to choose friends who uplift, inspire, and strengthen their spiritual journey, reminding them that true success begins with righteous living and the right company.
