Member of Parliament (MP) for the Lower Manya Krobo constituency in Eastern region has been left with many thoughts after a female lawyer strongly indicated her interest in the Lower Manya Krobo seat.

The lawyer, Benedicta Lasy Koryo filed her nominations to contest in the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries ahead of the 2020 elections.

The NDC opened nominations for its members who want to contest in the parliamentary primaries slated for 24th August 2019 to pick their forms.

Lawyer Laasi, who is seeking to become the next MP for Lower Manya Korbo, was accompanied by a section of the grassroots members to the party office to filed her forms.

Addressing a press confab after filing her forms, she noted, “There always comes a time in one’s life when great and tough decisions need to be taken, therefore, I have decided to contest in the upcoming NDC parliamentary primaries for the 2020 general elections.”

According to her ‘’ I will prioritize education and vocational training of the youth to build the human capital needed to drive development in the constituency, adding that ‘’ I also promised to build a Constituency party office for the NDC in my first term’’ she hinted.

She added that she will work together with key stakeholders to promote basic and secondary education particularly for girls, promote technical and vocational training for the youth and also promote Agriculture and agribusiness in the community.

Benedicta Laasi Koryo, the former Regional Deputy Youth Organiser of the party with three others namely; David Tettey, the constituency organizer, and Dr. Joseph Teye Nuetey of the Ghana Health Service are lacing their boots to face the incumbent MP, Ebenezer Okletey Terlarbi.

She declared her intentions to contest in 2016, Parliamentary Primary but the Incumbent MP, Ebenezer Okletey Terlarbi begged her to withdraw for him, in which he contested with the former Municipal Chief Executive of the area, Isaac Tetteh Agbo and floored him.

The lady, in her second attempts, is seriously gaining grounds on a daily basis as the camp of the incumbent MP are doing everything possible to frustrates her.

Since she declared her intention, the constituency executives have since been divided whereby some have moved to her camp, while the rest including the chairman, David Walter is also with MP.

The constituents especially the NDC delegates as gathered are fade up with MP due to his abysmal performance in the past eight years and are threatening to votes against him in the upcoming primary.

Even though the incumbent MP is doing everything possible to win the love of his constituents but most of the electorates have expressed disappointment in him due to the overbilling meters charged impose on them by the PDS then ECG originated by the previous NDC government.

He is reported to have allegedly said that the party hierarchy is pushing the lady to unseat him.

Meanwhile, a close source to the Incumbent, when contacted at press time said they are not shaking at all, adding that the MP has done a lot for the constituents who will look upon and votes for him massively.
