The Director of Operations at Maaha Beach Resort, Jean Jacques Mass, has assured guests and the general public that the resort is fully operational despite a fire outbreak that destroyed 18 rooms on the evening of Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
The fire, which reportedly started around 7:00 p.m. at the nearby Vision Beach Resort, quickly spread to parts of Maaha Beach Resort, resulting in the destruction of 15 rooms at Vision and 18 at Maaha.
Situated in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region, Maaha Beach Resort has long been a preferred getaway for tourists and holidaymakers along Ghana’s coast.
Despite the damage, Mr. Mass confirmed that the majority of the resort’s facilities remain intact and continue to serve guests.
“Maaha Beach Resort is still running. People who love the Maaha Beach Resort should continue to do business with us. Those who want to come here should feel free, don’t be afraid, everything is under control,” he said.
“Everything is going on well. We had an incident that happened on Wednesday, May 29, at 7:40 p.m., and our security guards called. The emergency team of Maaha Beach Resort was able to help. The fire extended to other blocks, and we lost 18 rooms.”
Mr. Mass explained that the affected rooms were located on the far-right wing of the resort and were only a fraction of the resort’s total accommodation capacity. Out of nearly 190 rooms, only 18 were impacted by the fire.
He also commended the swift response of the resort’s emergency team and security personnel, whose efforts helped prevent the fire from spreading further.
During a site inspection conducted by the Ellembelle office of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Mr. Mass reiterated that Maaha Beach Resort remains a safe, serene, and fully functional destination.
