This is the first Christmas Mac Miller's family will be spending without the late singer who died of an apparent drug overdose in September.

The late musician’s grieving mother, while speaking about Christmas without her son, said on Christmas eve that she felt grateful for friends who were as close as family.

Karen Meyers added that the love in the room felt ‘transcendent’.

Professional photographer Karen wrote on Instagram:

We spent the most wonderful night with favorite friends.. that are our family…

The love in the food and the atmosphere was transcendent… so grateful. Thank you Ian the master chef and Fig and with the company of Preston. Blessings.

The previous day, she said she felt like Mac had brought them the sunshine and added that she believed he was watching over them.

It’s been almost four months since Miller, the ex-boyfriend of Ariana Grande, was found dead at his home after an apparent drug overdose.
