Chief Executive Officer of the Public Sector Reforms (PSR), Thomas Kusi Boafo says President Nana Akufo-Addo and his government should bow their heads in shame over the Madina-Adentan highway carnage.

According to the PSR CEO, the recent toll of deaths as a result of road accidents is appalling and shouldn’t be trivialized.

Mr Kusi Boafo was commenting on the numerous accidents on the Adentan highway due to inadequate and uncompleted footbridges on the stretch of road.

Over 20 lives, according to Police report, have been lost on the highway with about 100 people sustaining several degrees of injuries.

On Thursday, November 8, 2018, a student of the West Africa Senior High School (WASS) was killed by a speeding vehicle in an attempt to cross the road on the Madina-Adentan Highway.

The residents of the area today embarked on demonstration to compel the government to construct footbridges on the highway.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s 'Kokrokoo' programme, Mr Kusi Boafo wondered why work on the footbridge has halted and the contractor reportedly not fully paid.

To him, the situation doesn’t augur well for the nation and called on the government to find lasting solutions to the problem.

He also asked the government to render an apology to Ghanaians for every life is valuable to nation building.

“Nobody wins when Ghanaians are dying, nobody wins. Let us all bow our heads in shame and tell ourselves we didn't do well, and we must render an unqualified apology to Ghanaians and parents. . . We should be seriously on the ground fixing the bridge," he said on 'Kokrokoo'.
