The Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has condemned the brutal killing of Mohammed Seidu Akugri, the Bongo District Director of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).
Akugri was shot, killed, and his body set on fire in an attack that occurred in Nangodi, near Bolgatanga.
In a press statement, Ayariga expressed his condolences to Akugri’s family, calling the crime a "dastardly act."
He urged law enforcement agencies to swiftly investigate the incident and apprehend those responsible for this violence.
"I hereby condemn, in no uncertain terms, the shooting, killing and burning of the body of Mohammed Seidu Akugri, who was the Bongo district director of the National Health Insurance Authority. The attack on him took place in Nangodi near Bolgatanga," he said.
The Bawku Central MP further called for calm among the public, urging everyone to focus on the ongoing peace efforts spearheaded by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to resolve the ongoing Bawku crisis.
He praised the youth of Bawku for their restraint and commitment to peace, revealing that significant progress has been made in addressing the conflict.
"I urge all to remain calm, and let's focus on the ongoing efforts of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to bring a lasting solution to the Bawku situation. I commend the youth for the restraint displayed so far and their recent efforts to maintain peace in Bawku. Significant progress is being made, and no one should be allowed to derail the process," the letter read.
