President John Dramani Mahama has officially inaugurated a new pasta manufacturing plant established by Olam Agri at Kpone, describing the investment as a major boost to Ghana’s agro-industrial development.
The facility, developed by Olam Agri Ghana, is expected to strengthen local food processing, generate employment and reduce Ghana’s reliance on imported processed foods, particularly pasta products.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, President Mahama emphasised that investments in manufacturing and food processing are crucial for transforming the country’s agriculture and industrial sectors.
He noted that the new factory would also reinforce local supply chains by creating opportunities for farmers, transport operators and small businesses involved in the food production value chain.
According to the President, expanding domestic manufacturing capacity is essential to improving food security and building a resilient economy capable of meeting Ghana’s growing demand for processed food products.

Also addressing the gathering, the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, said the plant’s production capacity would significantly support Ghana’s pasta consumption needs.
She explained that increasing local production would help reduce the country’s dependence on imports of processed foods and conserve valuable foreign exchange.
The Country Head of Olam Agri Ghana, Baibhav Biswas, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to expanding its investments in Ghana. However, he noted that addressing challenges within the industry would require stronger collaboration between the private sector and government.
Biswas expressed confidence that sustained partnerships with government would help create a more favourable environment for agribusiness investments.
The new facility forms part of broader national efforts to deepen agro-processing and industrialisation while promoting local food production and economic growth.
