Mahama leads in another poll ahead of 2024 elections

A recent poll conducted by Global Info Analytics shows former President John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leading in the race for the presidency, with 53.1% support among registered voters.
The survey, which took place between October 7 and October 12, included a total sample size of 1,969 respondents from across all 16 regions of Ghana.
The methodology involved random telephone interviews, with a margin of error of 2.74% and a confidence level of 95%.
Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) follows in second place with 39.0% support, while Nana Kwame Bediako and Alan Kyerematen receive 5.2% and 1.7% respectively. The remaining candidates collectively garner around 1%.
Executive Director at Global Info Analytics, Musa Dankwa, in an interview on Adom FM’s morning showDwaso Nsem noted that, the key issues influencing voters’ decisions are the economy, unemployment, and education, with concerns about corruption and rising fuel prices also playing a significant role.
Notably, 27% of respondents who supported President Akufo-Addo in the 2020 elections have shifted their allegiance away from the NPP.
Furthermore, 66% of participants believe the country is headed in the wrong direction, compared to only 24% who think it is on the right track.
Mr Musa further stated that, among first-time voters and the youth demographic, Nana Kwame Bediako is gaining notable traction, indicating a potential shift in support dynamics as the election approaches.
