Former Deputy Minister of Transport, Mrs Joyce Bawah Mogtari, is reported to have been chosen as the special aide to President John Dramani Mahama.

Mrs. Mogtari, who happens to be the younger sister of the current Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisa Djaba, got the nod ahead of others after intense lobbying by individuals close to the former President for the job.

Her position was confirmed after an official statement from the office of the former President last Thursday evening announcing his visit to Kenya, was signed by her as his Special Aide.

Joyce Bawah who is a known experienced mediator both locally and internationally was called to the bar in 2000.

She has worked as a consultant for KPMG and the Venture Capital Trust Fund.

Her profile  indicates that she holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from the Holborn College, University of London (1997).

She also holds a Master's degree in Maritime Law (L.L.M) from the International Maritime Organization (IMO), International Maritime Law Institute, (IMLI) Malta, where she was the recipient of the IMO Legal Committee Chairman's Award for Best Overall Performance in International Transport Law.
