Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru is determined to repay Anderlecht's confidence in him as he looks forward to the new season.

The 26-year-old struggled with injuries last season, limiting him to just 12 league appearances. One of his setbacks occurred during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, nearly sidelining him for the entire second half of the season.

Acknowledging the challenges he faced, Ashimeru expressed his gratitude and optimism for the upcoming season.

"I'm very happy. I've been here for two and a half years and I feel at home. The supporters, the team, and everyone in it make me feel really good and at home.

I'm very grateful because I had a couple of talks with the board and they were really positive. Unluckily, I didn't have a great season last year because of some injuries," he said.

This renewed optimism comes on the heels of Ashimeru signing a new contract with Anderlecht, extending his stay until 2027.

Since joining from Red Bull Salzburg in 2021, he has become an integral part of the team, surpassing 100 appearances for the Belgian club.
