A tragic incident has been reported at the Afram River, where a young man identified as Anthony, believed to be about 23 years old, has drowned under distressing circumstances.

The incident occurred between the morning and mid-day hours, sending shockwaves through the Kwahu Tease community.

According to information gathered, the deceased had been seen wandering in the area for about two days prior to the incident and was reportedly facing minor mental health challenges.

Speaking on the matter, Assembly Member Hon. Sampson Kpitsi Aban disclosed that he had earlier noticed the young man and took steps to report the situation to the Assembly Member for Tease.

Efforts were subsequently made to trace and inform the family of the victim.

However, the Assembly Member indicated that although the parents were located, they did not arrive in time to take custody of the young man as expected. It was in the early hours of today that the unfortunate incident occurred, leading to the drowning of the victim in the Afram River.

Police have since visited the scene to begin preliminary investigations, while the family of the deceased is reportedly on their way to make the necessary arrangements.

The incident has raised concerns within the community about timely intervention and support for vulnerable individuals.

Further updates are expected as investigations continue.
