Sampa, a town in the Bono Region, was thrown into chaos on Sunday afternoon when masked gunmen reportedly opened fire during a violent clash between rival groups.

According to eyewitness accounts, the attack led to the death of a police officer, while several others sustained injuries amid the sporadic shooting.

Medical personnel at the Sampa Government Hospital issued an urgent call for assistance as casualty numbers increased. In an audio message circulated on WhatsApp, a medical officer appealed to health workers nearby to rush to the facility to help manage what was described as a mass casualty situation.

Security sources said reinforcement teams were immediately deployed to the area to restore calm and ensure public safety.
