Asante Kotoko’s pursuit of Medeama SC winger Derrick Fordjour has been swiftly shut down by the Tarkwa-based club, citing the timing of the approach as unacceptable.
Fordjour, 22, has been a standout player since joining Medeama SC in 2021 after a brief stint with Spanish side Real Valladolid.
His performances have garnered widespread acclaim, particularly during the 2023 season, where he was instrumental in helping Medeama secure their first-ever Ghana Premier League title.
He also played a pivotal role in the club's historic CAF Champions League campaign, where they advanced to the competition’s money zone.
According to reports by Obed Acheampong, Asante Kotoko identified Fordjour as a key target to bolster their attacking flanks and were prepared to make a formal bid for the player.
However, Medeama SC immediately rejected the overture, insisting that they would not entertain offers for the player at this stage of the season.
Fordjour has enjoyed a strong start to the current campaign, contributing one goal in ten appearances, and remains optimistic about improving his stats as the season progresses.
Since joining Medeama, the sensational winger has made over 70 appearances, contributing directly to 12 goals with four strikes and eight assists.
While Kotoko’s interest highlights his growing reputation, it appears the Mauves and Yellows are determined to retain their star player as they aim to build on their recent successes.
