Medeama SC delivered a dominant performance to thrash Asante Kotoko 4-0 and climb to the top of the Ghana Premier League table.
The hosts took control early in the first half, opening the scoring in the 14th minute through a deflected effort after a foul on Samba was waved on by the referee.
Medeama doubled their advantage in the 30th minute before adding a third just four minutes later, leaving Kotoko reeling before the break with the score at 3-0.
There was little respite for the visitors after halftime, as Medeama struck again in the 49th minute to seal an emphatic victory in front of their home fans.
The result sees Medeama return to the summit of the league standings with 53 points, edging ahead of Bibiani Gold Stars, who sit second on 51 points.
Kotoko, meanwhile, drop to sixth place with 43 points, while Hearts of Oak occupy third position. Aduana FC and FC Samartex 1996 complete the top five.
The emphatic win not only strengthens Medeama’s title credentials but also intensifies what is shaping up to be a fiercely contested race for the Ghana Premier League crown.
