Medeama SC defender, Abdul Fatawu Hamidu, expressed his excitement about making his debut for the Black Stars, describing it as a great experience.
The 24-year-old received a late call-up during the last international window to replace the injured Baba Rahman after the game against Central African Republic.
Hamidu made his debut in a 3-1 victory against Liberia in an international friendly in Accra, playing the full duration of the game.
In an interview about his Black Stars experience, he admitted feeling initial pressure but settled in well and was delighted to represent the national team.
"Being in the national camp is something that we all wanted to experience. For me, I might say there is a lot of pressure over there, but I thank God I was able to settle in well with the prayers of my supporters, Dad, and Mum."
"The experience I got over there was massive. It is good for me to experience this kind of pressure. The feeling was good. Being in the starting lineup was something huge for me. I was happy being on the pitch with my teammates. It was a good feeling because I experienced something. At the beginning of the game, there was pressure, but as the game progressed, everything became perfect. Truth be told, I was so happy playing my first game for the Black Stars."
Since then, he has continued to play for Medeama SC, featuring in their CAF Champions League match against Horoya AC and their opening Ghana Premier League game against Accra Lions last Wednesday.
