The internet has been flooded with images of Baltasar Engonga’s family following his arrest amid a scandal that has shaken Equatorial Guinea.
Engonga, who served as the Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), is currently detained after authorities uncovered over 400 alleged sex tapes involving the wives of prominent individuals across the nation.
Known for his family life with a wife and six children, Engonga’s private actions have now come under intense public scrutiny.
The tapes were reportedly found on CDs during a surprise search of Engonga's home and office, part of a larger fraud investigation. Among the recorded encounters are women connected to influential figures, including the wife of Engonga’s own brother, members of the presidential family, the spouse of the Director General of Police, and several government ministers' wives.
Some videos reportedly show encounters filmed in Engonga’s Ministry of Finance office, with others taking place in hotels and private homes.
The recordings, allegedly made with the consent of the women, have ignited a scandal of unprecedented proportions, as they circulated rapidly online.
Local media sources suggest that this alleged consent could protect Engonga from legal action related to personal violation charges.
However, the sheer volume of the recordings and the high-profile connections have raised national alarm, sparking widespread condemnation and calls for further investigation.
Equatorial Guinea’s Vice President, Teodoro Nguema, has publicly condemned the misconduct, reinforcing strict workplace policies and ethical guidelines for government officials as the country grapples with the fallout of this high-profile scandal.
