Mexican second-tier club Zacatepec have retained the services of Jacob Akrong despite a massive clear out ahead of the new season.

At least 8 players from the team's roster will leave after they failed to qualify for 2018 Apertura.

Among the players who are candidates to leave the sugarcane team are Alfonso Rippa, Juan "Cheche" Hernández, Luis Márquez, Kevin Ramírez, Óscar Macias, Abraham de Jesús Torres Nilo, Gerson Marín and Mario Quezada.

Meanhwile Jacob Akrong has joined the side for pre-season training in Jalisco.

The 31-year-old transferred to Zacatepec from Spanish side Palamos CF in July for an undisclosed fee.

The Liberty Professionals product has played for seven clubs since making his professional debut in 2010.
