Member of Parliament (MP) for the New Juabeng South constituency in the Eastern Region, Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi, has donated digital pianos to five schools in Koforidua to equip the students in their creative art lessons.
The beneficiary schools were Wesley Methodist JHS, St. Mary’s Anglican JHS, St. Dominic JHS, Presbyterian JHS and Oti Boateng SHS.
Speaking in an interview, the MP indicated his core aim for the donation of the pianos was to help the schools to revive and also show more interest in the creative art lessons to enhance them to a good future.
He noted that over the years, music has been one of subjects that has brought impacts on the lives of many. However, he said due to lack of equipment, people no longer consider music as a lucrative profession.
“Over the years, music was an integral part of the school's curriculum and it was helping schools but these things are fading so we need to find a way to bring it back to help the young generations to be able to develop their creative art talent well. That is why we have brought these pianos to help the students in their learning.“ Said Okyere Baafi.
He assured his outfit will in the coming days provide more pianos to many schools in the New Juabeng Municipality.
Michael Okyere Baafi affirmed that as a new MP of for the constituency, his priority is to make the area a beneficiary of any good thing that will come out from the government.
He stressed on the tireless efforts being made by him and the MCE to make the learning of ICT more easy and interesting in various schools in New Juabeng
He urged the students to make good use of the equipment.
Headteachers of the beneficiary schools expressed their gratitude to the MP for his support towards infrastructural development and improvement of the academic standard of the students in the Municipality. They also promised to put the equipment into good use.
