Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his desire for Thomas Partey to remain at the club beyond the summer, as the Ghanaian midfielder enters the final months of his contract.
Partey, who joined Arsenal in 2020 from Atletico Madrid on a five-year deal, has been the subject of interest from Barcelona, Juventus, and clubs in the Saudi Pro League ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s final Premier League game of the season, Arteta praised the 31-year-old’s contributions during the campaign. “In regards to Thomas, consistency-wise, it’s been his best season,” he said.
“I think the way he’s played, performed, his availability has been exceptional, and he’s a really important player for us. Yeah, I want him to stay.”
After battling several injuries in previous seasons, Partey has enjoyed his most productive spell at the London club, making 51 appearances across all competitions and scoring four goals.
With speculation surrounding his future, Partey will look to continue his strong form when Arsenal face Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium on Sunday in their season finale.
