Xiaomi has rolled out the MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM update. It brings dark mode for Xiaomi’s system apps like phone, contacts, galley, messages and others. As reported by FoneArena, ‘the update also brings dark mode to Notification shade, Volume sliders, and Recents menu’. The dark mode feature will roll out to the Beta users via MIUI 10 v9.2.14.
In addition to the above mentioned sections, dark theme will also come to other sections including Mi Account, Manage Apps, Dual Apps, Second Space, App Lock, Permissions, Data Usage, Enterprise Mode, Quick Ball, and Sim Card settings. It is worth mentioning here that the dark theme for now is available for system apps only. The company is yet to roll out system-wide dark mode.
Xiaomi, it seems is following the Google’s footsteps in introducing the dark mode with MIUI 10. Google is also said to bring dark mode in its latest Android Q operating system.

Notably, Xiaomi devices like Mi 4, Mi 5 and Redmi Note 3 Pro known as Redmi Note 3 in India will not be eligible for dark mode. The Chinese mobile manufacturer has already started working on MIUI 11 which can be expected to bring system-wide dark mode to Xiaomi mobiles.

Dark Mode is said to be not only battery efficient but is also soft on eyes. It has been gaining popularity with several internet platforms adopting the feature. Google’s Youtube has already introduced the Dark Mode and social messaging app WhatsApp is reportedly in works to soon bring dark theme for chats. Latest to join the group was Google web browser Chrome. Dark Mode was introduced for both Windows and MacOS.

Redmi Note 7 to launch on Feb 28

In another news, Xiaomi has announced the launch date of its Redmi Note 7 in India. The smartphone with 48MP camera will be unveiled on February 28. It is already available in China and comes with a base variant packing 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.
