Ghanaian international Mohammed Salisu has highlighted the significance of the 2024/25 season as he looks to make an impact at AS Monaco following an injury-troubled start to his career at the club last season.

The 25-year-old defender is gearing up for his UEFA Champions League debut when Monaco faces Barcelona on Wednesday.

After overcoming injuries that limited his contributions last season, Salisu expressed his determination to make this season count.

"We've had a good start as a team, and personally, I'm pleased with how things have gone so far. I arrived here with an injury, and it was tough, but this is my first full season.

I started pre-season with the team, and I feel this is an important season for me, so I need to be fully prepared," Salisu shared in an interview with Flashscore.

He also spoke about the positive atmosphere within the squad and their focused approach for the season ahead: "There’s a good spirit in the camp.

The boys bring great energy to training, and we fight for every game, taking it one step at a time. With a lot of games ahead, we need to focus game by game. I think we’re in good shape."

Salisu’s strong return and growing confidence are expected to be key for AS Monaco as they navigate both domestic and European competitions this season.
