Ghanaian youngster Mohammed Sofo continued his impressive run of form for New York Red Bulls, scoring a crucial goal in their dramatic US Open Cup win over FC Dallas on Wednesday night.

The 20-year-old netted a second-half equaliser to cancel out Bernard Kamungo’s opener in the 28th minute, with Sofo’s strike marking his third goal in the competition—having scored a brace in the previous round against Switchbacks FC.

Remarkably, it was his final touch of the game before being substituted for Emil Forsberg, who played a pivotal role in the comeback.

Despite Luciano Acosta briefly restoring Dallas’ lead, Forsberg struck in stoppage time to level the match 2-2 and send it to extra time. With no winner emerging after 120 minutes, the game was settled via a penalty shootout, where Red Bulls converted four of their five attempts while Dallas missed two.

Sofo now has five goal involvements in nine appearances across all competitions this season, highlighting his growing influence in the Red Bulls' campaign as they advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
