Former Black Satellites captain Mohammed Umar made his debut in the Romanian topflight on Monday night as Politehnica Iași suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to FCSB.
The promising right-back, who had previously featured in cup games, was named in the starting lineup for the match at Stadionul Emil Alexandrescu.
A brace from Darius Olaru in the 44th and 76th minutes sealed the win for FCSB, leaving Politehnica Iași with a tough result.
Despite the defeat, Umar earned a solid rating of 7.5 for his individual performance.
Politehnica Iași now sit in 14th position in the league with 22 points after 21 games. Umar, who joined the Romanian side as a free agent from Finnish club Ilves during the summer, has made three appearances and scored once for his new club.
The 22-year-old will be hoping to help his side secure their topflight status after the Christmas break.
