A local governance expert, Amon Kotei has described most of the current Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) appointed by the President as illiterate and ignorant on the job so far as local governance is concerned.

Speaking to Abena Opokua Ahwenee on Dadi FM’s ‘Efa Woho’ show on Wednesday, 7th November, 2018, he stated most of the MMDCEs have not proven to be innovative in terms of socio economic development since most of them do not even know the financial stability of the assembly.

He added some of the MMDCEs only know being too flashy with their positions instead of letting it have impact on the people within the district.

“If you are appointed as MCE, you don’t have to attempt to be a Member of Parliament as some use to do because the MMDCEs’ duty is mostly technical” he indicated.

Mr. Amon Kotei, however proposed there should be someone responsible for the agricultural development and even water bodies since the MMDCEs cannot do the job alone.
