Another evidence of the police winning the war against armed robbers using unregistered motorbikes was played out last Saturday when one such rider was arrested in Accra.

A patrol team spotted a certain Yussif Nyako riding an unregistered motorbike alongside two others and when the suspect was stopped, he tried to evade the patrol team and fell off.

When a search was conducted on him, a foreign pistol, five rounds of 9mm ammunition, a drivers’ licence, Ghana Card, three mobile phones, a dark substance suspected to be Indian Hemp and a cash of GH¢ 5,275) among other items were found on him.

In recent times, motorbikes have become a vehicle of choice by armed robbers.

There is however light at the end of the tunnel as the new strategies put in place by the Police Administration have put the criminals on the back foot.

With the operations against the criminals now on a virtual war footing, combat wings are in place working day and night under the direct command of the Director-General of DCOP Suraj at the Police Headquarters.
