Musah Nuhu departs FC St. Gallen as contract nears expiry
3rd June 2025
Ghanaian defender Musah Nuhu is set to part ways with Swiss Super League side FC St. Gallen 1879 at the end of June, with his contract due to expire and no renewal currently on the table.
Nuhu joined the club in 2019 from Ghana’s West African Football Academy (WAFA), initially on a season-long loan.
His solid performances during that stint earned him a permanent move to the Kybunpark outfit, where he later signed contract extensions and even attracted interest from English side Leicester City at one point.
Despite a promising start to life in Switzerland, Nuhu’s career at St. Gallen has been hampered by recurring injuries. Since returning from a loan spell with Finnish club KuPS, he has struggled for consistent minutes, featuring in just nine matches during the 2024–25 season.
A former New Edubiase defender, Nuhu has also been active on the international stage.
He was part of the Ghana U20 (Black Satellites) setup and featured in the Black Galaxies squad that won the inaugural WAFU Zone B Cup of Nations in 2017.
He was also named in Ghana's provisional squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
As he prepares for the next chapter of his career, Nuhu will be seeking a new club where he can regain form and playing time, with his experience and potential still making him an appealing option for suitors.
