The national chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has stated that he is innocent of all the charges leveled against him.

According to him, “My hands are clean and my heart is clean. The battle is not for me. The battle is the Lord's and the Lord will win it for me.”

Ofosu Ampofo made this statement as part of NDC’s 27th anniversary celebration at the Royal House Chapel in Accra.

His comments follow accusations of arson and kidnaps levelled against him sbecause of a tape leaked on Wednesday, February 27, 2019.

Per a Myjoyonline.com report, Ofosu Ampofo said he was innocent of the charges, adding he was confident God would redeem him.

The veteran politician was arrested and subsequently released by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service (GPS).

Details of the correspondence inviting him revealed that a suspect accused him of being behind the kidnappings in the country.

Speaking briefly before donating to the Royal House Chapel International, Ofosu Ampofo revealed that he has been fervently seeking the face of God over his troubles.

He said, “Recently I prayed and cried and I asked ‘God if you knew this was going to be my lot why did you allow me to win this election?’

But the Lord asked me to go back and read Exodus. And read what Moses went through. And he told me that the Egyptians that you see today tomorrow you will see them no more.

Have the belief and confidence that the Almighty God that we serve will redeem me and his name will be glorified.”
