A six-month-old baby was on Monday, May 14, 2018 abandoned by its mother at Tinga a notable small-scale mining community in the Bole District of the Northern

The is currently in the care of the assemblyman of the area after some women reported the matter to the community chief who in turn lodged an official complaint with the police.

Samuel Sijabom, Assemblyman for Tinga electoral area who spoke to Bole-based Nkilgi FM about the incident, said around 5:00 pm on  Monday 14th May, 2018 a ‘Zambarama man’ in Tinga went to the toilet and saw the baby crying after it had been reportedly abandoned by its mother.

He said the Zambarama man whose name is not readily available could not pick the baby girl but went around the nearby houses to inform residents about what he saw.

The Assemblyman said some women went to pick the child and brought her to his house and he took the baby with the women to the Tinga Chiefs Palace and later went to police to lodge a complaint.

Hon Samuel Sijabom, residents suspect the runaway mother who is not a native of the area, may have abandoned the child as a result of her inability to cater for the welfare of the child.

According to the Assemblyman, they have caused announcements in the Tinga community for mother of the abandoned baby while a search party has been intensified to fish her out

‘The baby girl is healthy and we have bought some baby foods for the woman taking care of her”, he revealed.
