The National Democratic Party (NDP) has chosen 47-year-old Michael Sosu as runningmate to flagbearer Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings.

The former First Lady is hopeful the decision to select a youthful runningmate who is also a native of the Volta region will help the party appeal to the youth since they make a majority of the population in the upcoming December Polls.

Mrs. Rawlings disclosed the identity of her runningmate to the media on Thursday after she filed her nomination forms to contest the presidential election in 67 days.

Mrs. Rawlings was disqualified by the Electoral Commission in 2012 from contesting the Presidential elections after she failed to completely fill her nominations forms.

12 political parties have so far filed their nomination forms to contest the upcoming elections. The 12 parties include the NPP, NDC, PPP, UPP, UFP, GCPP and the GFP.
