Former Deputy General Secretary for the ruling New Patriotic Party, Nana Obiri Boahene, has expressed his disillusionment with the Black Stars, stating that he no longer invests his time following the team.

His comments come amid concerns regarding Kwesi Appiah's dual role as head coach of the Sudan national team and an Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Appiah had managed both positions until the Black Stars were drawn into the same group as Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Following this conflict of interest, he recently resigned from his role on the GFA Executive Council, a decision prompted by regulations from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

In an interview with Bryt FM, Boahene criticized the integrity of football administrators in Ghana, claiming, “I don’t waste my time on the Black Stars.

I follow foreign football because things are properly done there.” He voiced his frustration over the lack of seriousness among football officials, noting, “You don’t have to waste your time on countries where an Exco member doubles as head coach somewhere.”

He further emphasized that in any serious footballing nation, an official in such a position would have resigned upon accepting the coaching role with Sudan.

Boahene's comments reflect a growing sentiment among fans regarding the administration of football in Ghana, as he pointed to a perceived lack of honesty and sincerity among officials.

The former NPP official concluded by stating that both Sudan and Ghana's football administrations are not serious, leading him to prioritize following international players like Jude Bellingham and Lamine Yamal instead.
