The Deputy Director of Elections for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mahdi Jibril, has described as demonic the statement by Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh that ‘God even sleeps.’
The running mate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), in a recent commentary, took a swipe at the 24-hour economy of the NDC, saying there was no country in the world where that is practiced, and went ahead, saying God the creator even sleeps.

Jibril, in his response, wondered why NAPO, as he is affectionately called, would be blasphemous.

He said it was also surprising that a party that campaigned with the tagline ‘The Battle is the Lord’s’ would allow its running mate to mock God in such a disrespectful manner.

Jibril declared that it would surprise him if genuine Christians and Muslims would vote for the NPP and their demonic agenda.

Speaking to Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he said, “We have a party that for seven years keeps saying the battle is the Lord’s; we have a party that after scamming God that they will build a church for Him couldn’t do it, and we will have the audacity and power to tell us that God sleeps.

"I will be surprised to see Christians and Muslims, and anybody who has belief in God, believe in the NPP and vote for these satanic minds. Do you remember when he goofed about the Nkrumah saga? He traveled to Nzema to apologize. Tell me how he will travel to God and apologize to Him.

"That is the level they have gotten to. The God I serve does not sleep nor slumber. So the NPP should tell us the type of God they are referring to. For someone who is not yet a Vice President to make this statement, he will tell you that he created you if he becomes the Vice President.”

He asked the pastors and clerics supporting the NPP and those who are members of the party to tell Ghanaians the type of God they are serving or worshipping.

“The NPP Christians, the pastors who are supporting them and attending all-night services, should tell us the God they are worshipping when they go for their services.”
